GRADUATE ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
These are the general requirements for admission to the Graduate School at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. When applying, you must meet these requirements for admission to the Graduate School. Your application will not be forwarded to the program if you do not meet these requirements.
Many programs also require departmental applications and may have additional requirements that are specific to the program. Please contact the department directly for any additional program requirements. Documents required by the program must be uploaded into the application in the designated areas.
Degree Requirements
Applicants must have obtained a bachelorās degree from a college or university accredited by the appropriate regional accrediting agency, recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). A non-U.S.āÆdegree must be equivalent to a bachelorās degree from the United States and must be granted by a recognized or accredited foreign institution.
GPA
United States degree holders must have earned a minimum of 2.7 out of a possible 4.0 GPA or a minimum of 3.0 during the senior year of undergraduate study. If you have completed previous graduate coursework, you must have earned a minimum of 3.0 out of a possible 4.0 GPA.
Applicants with non-U.S. degrees must have earned a minimum of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or other equivalent to a āBā average. If you have completed previous graduate coursework, you must have earned a minimum of 3.3 out of a possible 4.0 GPA or other equivalent to a āB+ā average.
Standardized Test Scores
Applicants may be required to submit standardized test scores, depending upon their program requirements.
English Language Certification
Applicants may be required to submit English language certification test scores.
PROGRAM-SPECIFIC ADMISSIONS
Applicants to the Aerospace & Defense MBA must complete an application. A resume, references, transcripts and a $60 non-refundable application fee are also required to apply. The GRE/GMAT is required, waivers are available for qualified candidates with 10 or more years of relevant work experience.
Applicants to the Executive MBA ā Healthcare Leadership must complete an application. A resume, references, transcripts and a $60 non-refundable application fee are also required to apply. Qualified candidates have at least five years of professional work experience, though 7-10 years experience is preferred. GMAT scores may be required, waivers are available for qualified candidates with at least five years of managerial experience.
Applicants to the Physician Executive MBA must first complete an application. A C.V., essays, transcripts and a $60 non-refundable application fee are also required to apply. All applicants must possess a medical doctorate (MD or DO), five years of work experience in healthcare and a minimum grade-point average of 2.7 out of a possible 4.0 or a 3.0 during the senior year of undergraduate study. GMAT scores are not required.
Applicants to the Executive MBA ā Global Supply Chain must complete an application. A resume, references, transcripts, a $60 non-refundable application fee and personal statement are required to apply. GRE/GMAT scores are optional for this program. Applicants should have at least 5 years of professional work experience and a minimum grade-point average of 2.7 or 3.0 during the senior year of undergraduate study.
Applicants to the Executive MBA ā Strategic Leadership must complete an application. A resume, two professional references, personal essays, transcripts and a $60 non-refundable application fee are also required to apply. Qualified candidates have at least ten years of professional work experience, though 15-20 years experience is preferred. GMAT scores may be required, waivers are available for qualified candidates with at least five years of managerial experience.
Applicants to the Professional MBA must complete an application. A resume, references, transcripts and a $60 non-refundable application fee are also required to apply. Active employment and five years of professional work experience are required to be eligible for the Professional MBA. The GRE/GMAT is required, waivers are available for qualified candidates.

*** EMBA-SLās current tuition is $76,000. It is expected to increase in 2024 to $85,000, pending approval.
**** ProMBAās current tuition is $49,500. It is expected to increase for the 2023-2024 year to $52,500, pending approval.
FINANCIAL AID
